Blogging for the purpose of learning:
This introduction of this ICT ( Information and Communication Technology) is new to me. I never heard of this, until we were introduced to it through our course, Learning Technologies. I like that this document acts like a resource to help teachers, administrators and curriculum developers in understandin the role of ICT in classroom learning, teaching,and assessment of students. It is a model; A Continuum Model for Literacy with ICT, and meant to help teachers and students recognize and develop their literacy with ICT.
There are six sections to this document, and Manitoba Education, Citizenship and Youth has created a website specifically outlineing the document at http://www.edu.gov.mb.ca/k12/tech/lict/index.html that has detailed and updated information of the model.
Section 1 tells you what ICT is and how you can use it. Basically, the introduction of ICT is to infuse 21rst century technology within today's curriculums at school. Simply put it, we need to have all that is new teachable technologies out there, implemented in with school curriculum, because like it or not; our children are evolving in the ways they take in knowledge. I think that it is such a good idea to bring this into our classrooms and to the teaching staff, but I think that it also may intimidate those teachers or staff who may believe in "old school teaching" because they don't know about computers, or anything about this "Continuum of Learning".

Easter Sunrise
Tansi, every year I enjoy getting up to watch the Easter sun rise. However, it seems to be cloudy most of the time. It is nice to see once it comes out from the clouds. I couldn't get one this time, because it was very cloudy. This is my picture from last year. I think that it somehow dances as it comes out. I remember one of my aunts saying that as the sun comes out, as the light from the rays hits water, it will become holy. Neat! I should have placed some water in a cup outside. Anyways Happy Easter everyone! God Bless!

Kiyas, yes I know it's been a long time since my last blog! Gawd! Sounds like a confession. Well, in a way it is. I have been so busy trying to finish up things in all areas of my life right now. Tending to my famille, including my disfunctional ones, (won't go into that right now...)tending to broken hearts (lost a family member) tending to my seasonal cold or whatever the hey it is. My throat has been sooo sore. Took some weekees for that, but seems to keep coming back. I guess I'll have to try antibiotics, hate to, but looks like I'll have to. And finally, trying to get my assignments done. I have been wanting to get them done, but been very preoccupied with family, and trying to heal as well. I hope things will change when I start my practicum. Oh, and the quilt is almost done, worked on that too. Can't wait for everyone to see, (when I'm done of course!..next week?) Anyways, I also wanted to share something nice. I'm not sure that any of you regard Easter for the Rabbit, or for religious values. Me, I just believe that there is a creator out there, and despite the recent skedaddle about those crazy assed scientists discovering how to re-create the "big bang theory" where was it? France? Anyways we'll see. They're going to test it out underground sometime soon. EEK! Now there's a thought that wakes you up in the middle of the night!

Big Brother is Watching You: Dreams and their meanings
Big Bro
I just wanted to say that dreams are crazy! I mean, literally have you had a dream that just was so off the wall that you wonder if you are suffering from a brain tumor? Well it just so happens that I had a doozer of a dream this morning sometime in the wee hours of the morn. Gawd! How Aldous Huxley or what...I mean I remember that our planet was being overrun by a higher order of people, and that they were breeding people based on genetic engineering and it reminded me of that novel, "Brave New World". Or even when the Vikings set foot in Canada, then the Spaniards... then the Europeans...just a note of coincidences, I guess. Hmmmmm? I really had to think about that one. I am one of those insane people who tends to think that dreams mean something. Call me crazy, but I have had dreams that came true. Too bad I haven't had one that told me the numbers to the biggest lottery in the world yet.. Oh, Please!Oh, Please! Please!
My hubby thinks that I watch too much Sci Fi, or he thinks that I am too " M-O-O-N". If you seen the series of "The Two Towers" or read the book( by Stephen King) you'll know what I'm talking about. Remember to that some aboriginal elders think that dreams tell you something. Usually there is a hidden message that you will need to have decifered if you can't figure it out for yourself or duh, get an elder to do so. I just haven't gone to one yet, because I think that he or she will tell me the same thing... QUIT WATCHING THE DAMN SPACE CHANNEL.

Tansi everyone,
Here's a thought for you...
I was just thinking that how often we forget about the little things in our lives.
I mean, here we are busting our butts in school, driven by motivation,to succeed; and of course, if we don't, there are implications of failure. l mean, that in order to be "successful" we have to do all these routine things planned out for us, or laid out for us in order to succeed. Hmmm... yes, we are a bunch of monkeys pushing buttons and following society's norm. Big deal! So eventually, we have hopes of becoming educators in our society, where ever that may be. We will be there to do hard work, and I believe that we all will play our part. But don't forget about the last time you sat to watch the stars on a clear, cold night before plugging in your car. I mean actually standing there to take in the cold air, and look at the stars, or northern lights. Or how about watching that beautiful sunrise coming up over the horizon, that shines between the sparse branches of that jack pine tree in your back yard. Ah, that's nature in it's finest. Remember, love those around you and don't forget who you are. Ha,sorry, had a sentimental fart of the brain.

RE:Readings for Multilevel Learning Community
Hi there,
After reading, or skimming through, I thought that the chapter readings through 1-3 was somewhat enlightening for me. Why? Actually, my original ideas of multilevel classroom was just having a range of students that were of different ages and learning abilities. However, there was more than meets the eye. I think that a teacher has much to plan and endure in when taking on a multilevel classroom. Not only that, one must look at remaining with the same class for a number of years to benefit both students and teacher. I've seen multi-grade classes taught in my community, but they were not at all like the multi-level classroom expectancies that I had just read about. What really stuck out for me, was the demands that need to be addressed when teaching a multi-level class. First, because a teacher has to believe in her class. Role modelling, facilitating independent and peer learning ( the older, or more knowledgeable student who is strong in one area, tutors the often younger student is such a great idea, I liked this one). Which bringsforth supporting students meeting their goals and raising self-esteem for students. Multilevel classrooms are seemingly effective because the article states that based on statistics, muliti-level students do better academically than regular classroom students. Neat! Lot's of things to ponder over, but overall, was good to read about.
